Room and Board Refunds

Below is The College of New Jersey’s room and board refund schedule.  For information on requesting termination of a housing contract, please visit the Request for Termination of Housing page.

 

Housing Refunds

A student leaving housing on or before the official last day of Add/Drop shall receive a 100% refund of applicable tuition and fees* paid.

A student leaving housing after the official end of Add/Drop but before the end of the third week of classes in the fall and spring semesters shall receive a 75% refund of applicable housing fees paid.

A student leaving housing after the official end of Add/Drop but before the end of the fifth week of classes in the fall and spring semesters shall receive a 50% refund of applicable housing fees paid.

A student leaving housing after the fifth week of class shall receive no refund.

 

Board Refunds

Residents who leave The College or are released from the room and board programs during the semester will be refunded board at the following rates, dependent upon meal plan program selection:

A La Carte: Students who select the A La Carte board program will be refunded for board based upon the actual usage of their meal plan point dollars. All point dollars unused upon departure from residence past the close of a semester are non-refundable.  Students released from the spring term assignment will not receive any unused points from the fall semester.

Carte Blanche: Students who select the Carte Blanche board program will be refunded at a weekly rate for each week not in residence.  Students released from the spring term assignment will not receive any unused points from the fall semester.

 

Miscellaneous Information

If a student does not meet the criteria for a contract release, they will be held financially responsible for all housing and dining charges for the entire academic year. Checking out of your room, commuting, or moving to an off-campus residents does not qualify as being released from the housing contract, and does not make you eligible for a housing or board refund.
