Community College Partnerships

The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) has two unique partnerships with community colleges in the state to support student degree attainment and create transfer pathways by providing housing on TCNJ’s campus. Community College participants will have opportunities to engage in residential communities, dining, student events and organizations, fitness facilities, the library and more!

Benefits for Community College Students

  • Reduced housing fees
  • Have a designated Community Advisor (CA) who can help you navigate campus and connect to community.
  • Access to campus resources, including:
    • All of our dining facilities, whether it’s our award-winning main dining atrium, a coffee at one of our campus cafes, or our late-night dining location where mozzarella sticks and chicken tendies rule. And your meal plan is included, so there’s no need to scramble and cook a meal after a long day of classes and studying.
    • Use of our campus library, which includes a cafe and quiet study rooms.
    • Attend athletic events. We have 18 varsity teams. The College of New Jersey has a proud history that includes 39 NCAA Division III National Championships. That number is the third most NCAA National Championships in Division III and ranks 13th across all three Divisions.
    • Use the TCNJ fitness center and recreational spaces, including sand volleyball court, outdoor and indoor basketball courts, tennis courts, and game room.
    • Participate in intramurals or become a member of one (or some) of our 200+ student organizations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where will I live?

    • Students in this program will be housed in one of the Towers. In their second year, students may select housing with returning TCNJ students in any space in our rising student cohort; however, they should note that rooms have different price points.

Can I live with a friend/family member who attends TCNJ?

    • Not in the first year of the program. In year one, we cohort our community college participants together so they can benefit from connecting with their peers and so CAs can provide targeted resources and information to the community as they learn TCNJ’s campus and their home campus and resources. Returning students may form roommate groups with and select housing with returning TCNJ students.

What are my meal plan options?

    • All residential students are required to have a meal plan. Mercer students are automatically assigned an Apartments Meal Plan since their academic schedule often requires them to be on Mercer’s campus during many meal periods; however, they may select a more robust meal plan if desired. Brookdale students are required to have a Meals Per Week Plan since they are on TCNJ’s campus full-time.

Why do I need a TCNJ email address?

    • As a participant in a TCNJ program, your TCNJ official address allows you to access our buildings, log into MyHousing, and be recognized as a member of this campus. We rely on your TCNJ email for communicating important updates and information. It’s important you check it daily; however, many students choose to forward their TCNJ emails to their community college account for ease. You may find directions for doing that here.
